On the car drive home yesterday, it occurred to me that we focussed our discussion on technical architecture and not operational architecture. That is, we discussed the hardware and software components (and how they might be arranged) and spent precious little time (not that there was much of that) discussing how service might be provided and how these networks might be connected to the rest of the world.

As we develop this idea, I think this is going to be a key factor, especially since the cost of backhaul is very significant.
